Biosecurity & Property Identification Codes

From the 1st of July 2016, the Biosecurity Act 2014 comes in to effect in Queensland.  We as horse owners and ride organisers must keep horse movement records.  FNERA provide Horse Health Declaration (HHD) forms which are compliant with the legislation. Ride organisers and owners need to keep a copy of the HHD for 2 years.  As the HHD is handed in to the ride organiser, you will need to keep a copy, you can either keep a duplicate, or simply take a photo of it with your phone.

Under Queensland’s Biosecurity Act 2014 (PDF, 1.6MB), anyone who keeps more than a certain number of 'designated animals' is a registrable biosecurity entity and must register with Biosecurity Queensland. This includes horses. Once you are registered you will be allocated a property identification code (PIC). This PIC corresponds to the land where you keep your animal(s). PICs are not owned by the landowner - they are allocated to the land. Speak with your landlord if you agist or to obtain a PIC for your property go to:
