About

Our Mission - To promote and foster the highest ideals of sportsmanship, horsemanship and spirit of endurance riding as embodied in the endurance riding motto 'to complete is to win'

History

The first competitive endurance ride in Australia was held in the Hawkesbury valley, west of Sydney in 1966. It came to be called the QUILTY, after Tom Quilty, a Kimberly cattle man, who supported the idea and who donated the money for a Gold Cup. It is a test of horse and rider to complete 160km in less than 24 hours and is held in a different State each year. A number of club members have successfully completed the Tom Quilty ride despite the long distance to travel. In the Far North, the first meeting to form an endurance club was held at Tinaroo in 1985. Rides were conducted in the Danbulla Forest until the club moved to Wondecla. Now the club runs social and endurance rides, including the 400k Pioneer Marathon, from the Tepon Equestrian Park facility. The club website and social media (Facebook) disseminates club and ride event information and is updated on a regular basis
